The Character

Severus was born to a Pure blood witch and Muggle father. Named Eileen Prince and Tobias Snape respectively. He lives in Spinner's End, a poor, Muggle district. Snape was able to befriend Lily Evans, a Muggleborn girl who lived nearby. Severus was a victim of neglect and beatings by his parents. Which would act as the mould for his respect for power.

Snape's fascination and awe of power naturally landed him in the Slytherin House. Severus was ugly, and awkward. The few friends he made in school were due to his own acquired power. He attracted all his friends through displays of power, which helped push his first friend away. Severus was a brilliant student. Possibly the best in his year.

Snape's power hunger led him to join the Death Eaters as a young adult. He thought that a wizard of the skill of Voldemort could take him anywhere. During the first war, Snape quickly became one of Voldemort's favorites and honored. Snape helped uncover Dumbledore's plot to mould Harry Potter into a force to destroy Voldemort. Despite his unshared fondness to Lily Evans, Severus betrayed her son to Voldemort. It was only after Voldemort was broken and Lily dead that Severus realized the power Dumbledore possessed, even if it was idle. Snape instead became a teacher and accepted asylum from Dumbledore.

Severus became a guardian of Harry Potter when the boy came to Hogwarts, although Harry Potter himself translated Severus' actions as tyranical in the least and traitorous at worst, Snape only ever acted to protect the boy. Regardless, Snape would inevitably be forced to fight on the Dark Side in order to save his own hide. He remains close by Lord Voldemort's side. A setup that troubles Severus, as it is obvious that Voldemort is merely keeping his enemy close.

Severus' suspicion proves true, Voldemort tried to kill Severus in order to obtain ownership of the ancient Eldar Wand. Although Severus was badly injured during the fight, Sirius Black, finally arriving to the battle, found the battered Severus and eavesdropping Potter. Sirius was never informed of Dumbledore's death and his killer, offered to stay behind to attempt a heal of Severus. Severus, who highly doubted Sirius' abilities, gave Harry his memories both to help defeat Voldemort and prove his innocence. Potter didn't argue with either Snape of Sirius as he was in a hurry and he was certain that Sirius would be better off with something else to do instead of battling so soon after his coma had lifted.
