The Character

Bellatrix was born in 1951 to Cygnus and Druella Black, who raised her to prize her pure-blood heritage. She was the oldest sister to Andromeda and Narcissa, though Bellatrix cut off contact with the former when Andromeda married Muggle-born wizard Ted Tonks and was disowned.Bellatrix also held her cousin Sirius Black in contempt for being a Gryffindor and a "blood traitor". Bellatrix attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into the Slytherin House.

She eventually married Rodolphus Lestrange — a fellow pure-blood, as was expected of her — and when Lord Voldemort first rose to power, she and her husband joined the Death Eaters. Unlike her sisters, Bellatrix displayed no outward affection for her husband whatsoever, never even mentioning him in conversation. Her true love was Voldemor[, who gave her some training in the Dark Arts, which contributed to her incredible talent as a duelist.

It 1982, Bellatrix become pregnant before her conviction in Azkaban. Once Kathleen was born, Bella made an agreement with Millicent ** to keep the child's true identity a secret. The former minister, after giving the idea some thought, decided that the best solution was to tell Bellatrix that her child had died. Kathy was then adopted by the Sullivans, a respectable pure-blood couple who's loyalty went to Dumbeldore.

When the mass breakout of Azkaban took place when Kathy was in her third year. In turn Bella and Rodolphus learned that their child was still alive. Bella had always wished to have a child but she couldn't be bothered to look for Kathy right then, since her full attention was focused on Voldemort. On the other hand Rodolphus pursued his search until he came by the name of the child's adoptive parents. He sought them out and when he finally found them, on the summer of 1996, he confronted Kathy.

One may say that Bellatrix grew jealous of her husband's attention on the child. Therefore, after evil won the final battle, she decided to divorce Rodolphus for the Dark Lord. Alas her plans didn't go as she would have wished since Voldemort didn't know how to truly love. Therefore Bella was left alone, more unbalanced than before.
