Draco knew people are still keeping out of the Shreiking Shack even after hearing the rumors that Sirius Black had been hiding there. Right now, this is one of the place that he trained secretly. He could not let his parents know he was learning, mastering new skills. He had to be in a place close to school yet he was able to practice without anyone know, even Crabbe and Goyle, this will be the place. It was freezing outside. Snowing slightly but that did not stop Draco from coming to practice. He pushed the door opened slowly before bellowing, "Anyone in?!" He waited for a few seconds and there was no answer.
He closed the door behind him and dusted the snow off his coat. He twitched his nose a little before making his way up the second floor, avoiding the blood stain. He showed a disgusted expression before entering into the room. He turned over to see a rusty flask. He raised his wand, pointing at it while trying to levitate it without casting the spell out from his mouth. He was trying to master the non-verbal spell technique. Being in concentration, he forgot to lock the door or find him an escape route just in case someone decided to drop by.

"Hermione! Shut up will you?" said Ron in exasperation. Harry instantly moved in between his two friends and said quickly, "We will finish the essay when we got back." Hermione frowned at the two and said, "Fine. But don't ask for mine." She turned away and started moving away from the two boys. At the same time Ron mumbled, "She will mate." Hermione gritted her teeth and called over her shoulders, "No I won't Ronald." Before either of them could say anything else, Hermione disappeared round the corner and hurried towards the Shack.
She adjusted her muffler and her red winter hat before rubbing her mittened hands against each other. She sighed to herself and briefly focused her attention on the small cold cloud of air her sigh created. Hermione stopped by the decaying railing and poked it with her fingers. A noise caught her attention. She whirled around with her eyes narrowed, trying to identify the source. Hermione's gaze lingering on the open door of the shack, which was flapping loosely in the wind.
Hermione looked over her shoulder and then gave a small shrug while muttering, "Might as well get myself killed." She reached for her pocket and pulled out her wand. Hermione jumped over the fence and walked slowly towards the shack. She pushed the door open and stepped inside. Hermione had never seen anything in such bad condition. With her wand raised high in front of her, she started exploring. When she reached the second floor, she saw a figure. "Draco?" she asked uncertainly.

As Draco was trying to levitate the flask, looked like his attempt failed causing it to smash onto the floor. He grunted while looking at the broken pieces. He soon tried casting the repair spell non-verbally too. He concentrate hard and the pieces started moving towards the bigger main piece. They were slowly piling up the shattered pieces, forming into the shape of the flask like before and when it was done, it turned out to be one normal flask. That worked, Draco thought in mind. Then, he tried levitating it again.
Just as he was about to do so, he heard footsteps, or should it be the creaking sound from the floor. He quickly hid himself noticing the door being opened slowly. He hid quietly while waiting to see who that might be. He was shivering in fear, he was afraid of getting caught. He held his wand tightly in his hand. When he heard a voice, he thought he might be dreaming or in a nightmare. He heard Hermione's voice. He was creeping out. It was only when he saw her walking past him, he realised it was really her. He could not let her spot her in this place. He pushed the wardrobe door slowly to escape and crept his way towards the exit.
He could not help but wondering, why would she call out his name? Shouldn't she be calling out to Harry or Ron instead? He found himself lucky that she left the door open. Before he made a step out, he sprung around and pointed his wand at Hermione, "What you think you're doing here, Granger? And why did you call my name? Expecting me much?" He spatted. He counted himself lucky to master sneaking, or so he thought. He noticed that Hermione got her wand out too. He swallowed while catching her gaze.

Draco's name was barely out of her mouth, when she wondered what made her call his name. Maybe it was because she had often seen him hanging outside the building and unconsciously linked the two. She moved further inside the room until she heard a sound from behind her. Hermione turned around and aimed her wand at the person creeping up on her. When she saw it was Draco, her body automatically relaxed and she lowered her wand. Hermione's eyes shifted from his face to his wand and back. "You should put that away before one of us gets hurt," she said calmly.
Hermione raised an eye brow at his queries and shrugged in response. She put her wand away and replied honestly, "I heard a noise and came to check it out. I can now see it wasn't a very smart idea." She rolled her eyes annoyed at herself and continued, "No I wasn't expecting you... it may sound odd but I had the feeling you were near." She shrugged and pursed her lips slightly. Hermione started pacing around the room, poking things with her finger and boot. "What is a prince like you doing in a dump like this? Do you have something hidden her Draco?" she teased lightly.

This might be bad. If Hermione knew what he was here for or if he was here often, she would turn him in and he might be expel, if that was the worst case to come. He noticed that she had already lowered her wand but he did not. He smirked playfully and said, "Really? Make me." The last time he lowered his wand, she punched him or got advantage of the situation. Since they are out of Hogwarts, anything can happen and she can make him pay and no one will know seeing they both are now at Shrieking Shack,
"Oh, you think you're that smart are you, Granger?" He walked closer to her still did not put his wand down. He raised one of his eyebrows while asking, "Feelings? Who are you? Professor Trelawney?" Draco laughed at her. As much as he had slightest respect for that professor who is weird all the time, he had no respect for a mudblood like Granger, or at least, he tried to show it that way. He sneered a little when she stated that he might be hiding something here,
"Why would I come to such a filthy place to hide my things? They are way to precious to be trash in such a dusty place. I'm following you three. Crabbe and Goyle went after Potter and Weasel." Clearly, that was a lie, but at least a good one, since Harry and Ron aren't with her at the moment. If she has something up, she would most likely showcase an expression of worried and such. He smirked while keeping his distance from her with his wand firmly wield in his hand.

She rolled her eyes in annoyance and replied, "I do not want to play games with you. If your wand makes you feel safer, then by all means keep it aimed at me." She laughed at his question and replied, "I don't think I'm smart... I know I am." Hermione never openly and directly bragged about her intelligence, but this was different. She gave him his back as she went around the room. Something which was far from smart, since Draco had his wand out and pointed at her.
Hermione groaned at his next words and turned to face him. "Trelawney? Don't make me laugh. She's a right fraud." Hermione hadn't liked divination from the start. It was a subject not based on facts and research. Hermione didn't like that. She raised an eye brow and questioned, "How can you be following me, if you were here before me?" She leaned against the poster of a bed and then sat down heavily.
A cloud of dust rose from the duvet, Hermione started fanning the air around her head and coughing loudly. She stood up and hurried to the other side of the room, stopping in front of Draco. Hermione looked at him with watery eyes and choked, "Crabbe and Goyle are in detention with professor Flitwick."

Draco frowned a little when she did not want to go along with him. He lowered his wand and hid it back in him instead. There was no fun at all, then again, he should not be having fun with her in the first place. Draco rolled his eyes, it seemed they took turns to roll their eyes, when she said she is smart. He was punished once for letting Granger beat him in class, with results. His father was no pleased with that at all. Then again, his father was never pleased with him. Draco had disgraced him during the Quidditch match two years ago. He was taken aback when she stated that he was here before her, "I am not. Don't you dare make that up."
Draco was looking around wondering how she knew. He thought he managed to sneak past her and got behind her instead. How did she know he was here first? When she claimed that Crabbe and Goyle were in detention, he muttered the word 'useless' under his breath, softly. Seeing that Hermione is now standing close to him, he could not let her hear him much. He did back away slowly as he did not want any close contact with her, "That does not answer why you know I'm here first, which in the case, I am not." He sneered while waiting for her explanation. Somehow, he wanted to offer his handkerchief to her but he changed his mind.

"I don't tell lies Draco," she said with a hint of amusement in her voice. Hermione looked away from Draco and started sneezing loudly. She covered her mouth and gave Malfoy her back, just in case she had some snot on her face. Hermione blushed furiously at the thought and hastily wiped her nose in a tissue. She looked over her back and grinned. Hermione pointed in the place where Draco had been hiding and said, "You were there. There is no way you could have come from the door." Hermione pushed the tissue deep in her pockets and started looking around the room. "Did you know this place was never really haunted?" she asked absentmindedly. She shifted her gaze back to him and watched him in silence.

"Right, Granger, you dont." He said with a little sarcastic tone along. When she started sneezing, Draco thought she was going to do something to him and he quickly cover his face with his arms, "Don't hit my face." He responded after. Draco slowly lifted his arms and realised she only sneezed and he made a big deal out of it. He quickly straightened himself and acted normal. When she looked back and grinned at him, Draco made a face before looking away from her. She seemed to be pointing something and Draco turned to look at where she was pointed. The wardrobe, how would she had guess?
Then again, besides that big hole on the wall by the floor, the next place to hide is either the wardrobe or under the table. He sneered and wondered what made her say that. He did stood at the door while pointing his wand at her. "And you think I care? Why would I want to ruin a good spooky tale to spook those first years? Wait a minute... How do you know?" He narrowed his eyes a little while looking at her, making sure she would not lie or trying to hide something because he will know. He caught her eyes and he immediately looked away from her. It was then he recalled he had to gaze at her to make sure she was telling the truth and he chose the lips, which made it worst. He decided to look at her overall face instead.

His sarcasm did not go unnoticed, but she decided not to comment about it. When she started sneezing and Draco pleaded not to hit, Hermione forgot all about her embarrassment and started laughing at him. She covered her mouth with her hand and tried very hard to stifle the laughter. Hermione looked annoyed by his reaction. She hmphed loudly and said,"Of course... the great Draco Malfoy always picking on first years." She burst out laughing and stammered, "And afraid of sneezes." She wiped the tears from her eyes and turned back to face him. Hermione cringed at his sneer and replied as calmly as possible, "I have never heard any noises... apart from you." She gave a shrug and continued, "I think it's only one of those local tales to scare young witches and wizards. The place is evidentially dangerous."

When she started laughing, Draco knew he had made a fool out of himself and her witnessing it. Oh great, he thought. She would most likely share this with Potter and Weasley and having them to gang up on him, laughing at him. At this point of time, Draco wished they die laughing, literally, "Watch it, Granger." Draco gritted his teeth. He was never pleased to be laughed at. All he knew if his father heard about this, he would be in deep trouble. He was lost when Hermione spoke again. Seeing that he was in his deep thoughts about what his father might do to him when he found out about his poor image, Draco had no idea what he should respond.
Though, he soon caught up with her topic, "Which is a very good prank for me to use on them. You fell for it once, didn't you, Granger?" Draco smirked a little as he teased her. This place really could use some cleaning. There was not a single spot where he could take a seat, "Should you leave now? Don't you have to run off and share with Potter and Weasel about me being scared of a particular loud sneeze? And if you're so certain that I'm here before you, go turn me in." There was a unhappy, slightly reluctant tone as he spoke to her about it. Not knowing what else to do, he started walking away from her, down the steps.

Hermione turned scarlet at his words and she looked at Draco sheepishly. She wagged her finger at him and said hurriedly, "That was an entirely different thing." Hermione narrowed her eyes at his next words. Before she could reply, Draco started walking away. She sighed and rubbed her temples tiredly. Hermione hurried after him and said, "Draco. Wait." She waited until he stopped before catching up with him. Hermione looked up at Malfoy uncertainly and said, "I don't see any reason to turn you in." She shrugged and tilted her head slightly. Hermione nibbled her lower lip and looked away. She fixed her on a broken window and continued, "Not to the professors or Harry and Ron." She raised both hands defensively and backed away slowly while saying, "Don't ask why because I don't know." With one last shrug. She turned on her feel and started walking down the stairs.

Draco soon stopped at the steps, halfway, carefully not to step on the mere broken pieces and fall in. As Hermione caught up with him, he turned to look at her, raising one of his eyebrows while wondering what she might want to add. Draco wondered if that sneeze hurt her brain or something as she stated she would not want to turn him in to anyone. The moment she walked past him and heading to the ground floor, Draco simply follow after. He could not help but wondering and asking the question in his mind. He really wanted to know why was Hermione doing that. If she hated him to the core, like he did, or suppose to be, she would have do so. So, why isn't she? The snow outside was getting stronger.
Draco knew so as he looked at one of the windows beside the door, "You're not heading out now are you? That snow seemed pretty 'fierce' to me. Then again, if you want to be an icicle, fine by me." Clearly, Draco knew nothing about the secret hide out that the Shrieking Shack is connected to the Whomping Willow. He made his way towards the fire place and lit the up to keep him warm. At the same time, he found himself a clean seat and settled down while looking at Hermione. She had yet made her decision but somehow, Draco wanted her to stay with him and he knew it was a bad idea.

Hermione froze into mid step. She narrowed her eyes and slowly turned back to face Draco, doubting her hearing. She laughed dryly at his last words and thought sarcastically to herself; There is the Draco we all love and adore. Without replying she moved towards the nearest window and stood on the tip of her toes to peer outside. She sighed loudly, knowing he was right. It would be madness to leave the Shack in such a weather. Hermione watched Draco light up a fire and unconsciously started rubbing her arms. "I will wait for the storm to calm down," she finally stated. Hermione looked around the room, until her eyes fell on a stool which still looked in a good condition. She dragged it to the other side of the room and sat down on it. After some minutes she started shivering with cold. Hermione wanted to create one of her instant fires, but if she did Draco would recognise it and now it had been her who lit his robes in the grounds a couple of months previously.

Thankfully Draco always had his protection for the cold, other than his scarf and coat. The heat pad. His mother always nagged at him to carry one just in case of a storm, looks like it was put into good use this time. Usually, he could not be bothered to put them on, to him, it was troublesome. He placed his hands behind his head while resting against the chair. It would do him no good if he started practicing again, with her around, not really a good thinking.
He felt boring all of the sudden and opened his eyes slowly to look at her, glancing through the corner of his eyes. He caught her trying to keep herself warm. Most of the time, he could not be bothered if she was freezing to death and such because he knew Potter and Weasley will always be there for her. He wanted to do something but it would be strange if he did. He frowned a little before unstriping the hot pad from his body. He pulled off his coat and walked over to her. He placed the coat on her before handing her the pad,
"Take it, it'll keep you warm. I doubt you would want to be anywhere close to me, I mean the firepit, seeing you chose to sit at the other side of the room. Don't say a word, Granger. Don't want to hear them either. Go on, take it before I change my mind." Draco sneered lightly. The moment she took it, not even caring if she accepted it or wanted to toss it away, he turned and made his way back to his seat. He turned the seat around, back facing her while he looked at the fire 'dancing'.
