Hermione inhaled deeply and started rubbing her arms for warmth. She was deep in thought, worrying about her unfinished Arithmancy essay which was due in two weeks. Hermione didn't like to wait until the last minute to complete her work, unlike Harry and Ron. She sighed at the thought of them, thinking they might get worried... if they did notice she was missing. All of a sudden she felt something drop in her lap and Hermione instantly looked down. She stared at the coat for several seconds before her eyes moved to Draco's face. She tilted her head to the side and listened to what the Slytherin had to say. Her face turned from surprise to shock in a couple of seconds. Hermione took the pad from his hand uncertainly and watched him walk away. She wrinkled her nose and then said, "Thanks." Hermione draped the coat around her shoulders and asked, "Are you... uhm sure?" She felt awkward and her words sounded almost artificial. Hermione cleared her throat and continued, "Where's the catch Malfoy?"

As she thanked him, Draco smiled slightly but it was soon faded. He was not really use to smile from the bottom of his heart, he was usually putting a smile on. That really hurts him. So far, the only person who got even close to seeing that or knowing how he actually feels was Pansy. He could not help to frown when Hermione questioned him. Perhaps it was wrong for him to be nice for a change, especially to a mudblood. He sneered and decided not to respond to her. He kept his head away from looking at her or even close to her view and just tried to keep himself warm with the fire.
He blew at his hands, palms to keep them warm before folding his arms and stared at the fire pit. After a while, his eyes started to close after. He was sleepy when he was bored. Hence, he was slowly drifting off to sleep. It was not a good idea as well, seeing he was in the same room with Hermione Granger, the girl who nearly broke his nose last year. Though, he was so bored that he could not bother thinking about that and the next thing he knew, he was resting with his eyes closed, perhaps even his awareness around the room or even him, as well.

Hermione watched him with a frown. She sighed to herself and leaned against the wall, pulling the cloak tighter around herself. It must have been a couple of hours later when she heard her name being called. Her eyes fluttered open and she hurried towards the window. It was no longer snowing and outside were Harry, Ron, Ginny and Neville looking for her. She peered over her shoulders and looked at Draco who appeared to be fast asleep. Hermione walked slowly towards him, and re lit the fire for him before placing his cloak on top of him. She then ran out of the Shack. As soon as Neville saw her coming out of the haunted mansion he started shivering and said, "Hermione! Why were you in there? It's haunted?" Hermione gave a shrug and said, "It was snowing." Ginny wrapped her arms around Hermione while Ron and Harry looked at her uncomfortably. They scratched the back of their heads and mumbled a sorry. Hermione smiled and said, "Just let's get back." As all five Gryffindors marched away from the Shack, Hermione turned around and stared at the building. "Hermione?" whimpered Neville. "Uh-huh... there's nothing to be afraid of." And with that, they disappeared from sight.
