Tom. People still referred to him by his unworthy Muggle father's name. Lord Voldemort took a bite from the apple he held in his hand. He chewed slowly gazing carelessly at the older witch who had just called him a liar and theif. She had turned away from him. She tried to sway his crowd to her foolish rhetoric. Lord Voldemort was a liar and a theif but he was a powerful wizard. He was the best even before he had began attending classes at Hogwarts. In Wools orphanage, no one could do what he could. Voldemort, the Lord, would not let this witch talk to him like that. When Lord Voldemort's crowd began jeering at the blood traitor, Voldemort swallowed the bits of apple he had been chewing.
"I think, Madame, that you know not what business you are interferring-"
The woman interrupted him and began screaming about murder and lies. Voldemort grinned. She actually thought she was safe just because of her pureblood status. Voldemort interrupted her in kind with a simple word, "Traitor." Lord Voldemort's crowd roared with approval.
Lord Voldemort drew his wand and growled harshly, "Avada Kedavra!" Many people fled in terror who had been jeering only a moment before. Voldemort noticed a girl who had not flinched watching the death with excitement.
Voldemort walked toward Bellatrix slowly. He kept his wand in his hand in case any aurors detected the killing curse. "Your name, Miss?" Lord Voldemort found younger minds far easier to corrupt. More often than not, people his own age wanted to be his equal and people older than him wanted to be his superior.

Bellatrix Black loved Hogsmeade weekends. It was the perfect chance to have fun with those filthy mudbloods without worrying to be caught by a professor. After all she had a reputation to up hold. Bellatrix was aiming to be appointed a prefect in her Fifth Year; and she knew that to achieve that she had to impress that muggle loving old fool. Bella and her younger sister Andromeda were seated inside the ice cream parlour facing each other. Bellatrix felt and looked utterly bored. She did not particularly enjoy Meda's company, but her mother wanted her to keep a close eye on her.
All of a sudden she rose from her seat and stated, "Let us walk Meda." Bella gathered her ice cream and threw some money on the table before leading the way out of the parlour. Her sister heaved a sigh and reluctantly followed close behind her. Andromeda was annoyed to be forced to spent the visit with Bella. Although they had common friends, the both of them were like day and night. Bellatrix was busy scooping some ice cream in her mouth when the commotion between an aging witch and a thirty something wizard took place.
Andromeda nudged the Bella's back and whispered, "Change course..." Bellatrix whirled around and cut her off sharply by saying, "Don't be silly. This is the road I want to take." Both Blacks fell silent when they heard the killing curse, followed by people running around them screaming. Bellatrix turned her gaze ahead of her and looked her eyes with the physique of a man approaching them. She could feel Meda cowering behind her and that did not please her. Bella raised a brow at the question. She lifted her chin and replied proudly, "Bellatrix Elladora Black."

Lord Voldemort smiled with deceptive warmth. He was quite annoyed by the girl who was obviously younger but resembled her sister all the same. He folded his arms. A man came up behind. Lord Voldemort knew it was Nott, his childhood subordinate. The man made a coughing noise to get Voldemort's attention. Voldemort did not look at him when he asked, "What is it, Nott?"
Nott did not seem to fear Voldemort as the other adults did, even those who had stayed about seemed unwilling to look at Lord Voldemort directly. "The Ministry, my lord. We should not linger near the body."
Lord Voldemort knew he did not yet inspire nearly as much fear in Nott as the Ministry could. But that was why Nott needed to be replaced. He was too headstrong. "I am aware of your cowardice, Nott. Go hide if you must, I'm sure the others will still help you mutiny against me then."
With Lord Voldemort's confession to having knowledge of Nott's plot, Nott showed his teeth to Voldemort's back. Nott then stepped back, wondering who had betrayed his plot against Voldemort. "I figured it out myself, Nott. You are not my favorite any longer. Leave." Nott faded into a crowd of Death Eaters.
"Black. Bellatrix, warrior woman. You are too young. But tell your father that the Death Eaters will eventually come for you." Lord Voldemort walked toward Bellatrix and peered around her at Andromeda. "And she is called?" Her fear excited Voldemort, he greatly desired to scare her further. Observing people who feared him was such a pleasure to him. It was much better than the eventual kill.

Nott was not an unfamiliar for the Black sisters. He was friends with their father and uncles. Bellatrix continued eating her ice cream, seemingly uninterested in the conversation between the two men in front of them. She instantly took a liking to the man that had killed that witch. Bella wondered what his name was. She thought Nott was a fool for behaving in such a despicable manner towards the other man.
Bellatrix stopped eating. With the sthingy still in her mouth, she looked up at the man with wide eyes. Bella coughed and spluttered and repeated, "Death Eaters?" Did could only mean one thing. Her next reaction to his words was to bow in front of him. Without shifting her glance she looked up and asked, "You are the Dark Lord, aren't you?" Bella felt her heart rate increase and she held her breath as she waited for his confirmation.
She had never meet Lord Voldemort. But she had heard a lot about him. Her own father was not part of his group of Death Eaters. However, one of her uncles was and he always had words of praise for the Dark Lord's noble ideology. Bellatrix was immensely pleased and flattered that he was even considering her. She was after all only a woman. An independent, strong one but still a woman.
Until the Dark Lord inquired about her sister's name, Bella had entirely forgotten about her. She cast a dirty glance in Meda's direction and replied, "That is my sister. Andromeda Black." Bellatrix frowned at her sister and hissed under her breath, "Bow Meda. Bow." Andromeda looked confused by her sister's actions and request. None the less, did as told. It was never a wise decision to go against Bellatrix.

Lord Voldemort smirked at Bellatrix, taking his eyes off Andromeda. He had been about to torture the younger Black. He could tell that she needed the attention, probably a middle child. "I am Lord Voldemort, yes. You may call me Lord or Dark Lord. To speak my name is to declare yourself superior to me, I kill any who dare it." Lord Voldemort smiled, showing his teeth. "It is good to see that you both know your place. Know that you bow to the worthy heir of Salazar Slytherin. But you may keep that information to yourselves."
Voldemort drew his cloak over his head. He had recognized an auror approaching. Though he could not be sure if there were more yet. The cloak concealed Voldemort's face, as did the rising darkness that forced the sun to set. "We should leave, girls." Voldemort drifted forward and took Bellatrix's hand in his. "Let us go to the Three Broomsticks." Lord Voldemort wished Andromeda was not there, but perhaps she would be useful as well.
As they walked past the auror, Voldemort realized the man was out here alone. Voldemort made conversation with Bellatrix as they passed him, "How are your classes, Bellatrix?" Voldemort turned his head away from the auror as it became apparent that he saw the carcass. The auror gaped at the body and was about to stop the Hooded Voldemort when he was hexed by one of the shorter Death Eaters. The auror stood with a dumb look on his face. And Voldemort kept walking. "Don't worry, he wont remember your faces."

Andromeda was starting to feel uncomfortable. She did not like the fact that she was being forced to bow to a stranger... a stranger who proclaimed himself Lord. Like her older sister, Meda had heard a lot about Lord Voldemort. However, unlike her family, she thought that his ideology was despicable. Andromeda had never thought that muggleborns should be killed, and ever since meeting Teddy she reinforced that idea.
She heard Bellatrix gasp softly, and Meda forced her attention back to the conversation. Hmm heir of Slytherin? That did not impress Meda but the same thing could not be said of Bella. The way she was looking up at him, like he was some sort of god, seemed unnatural to Meda. Both Blacks straightened their backs at the same time. Andromeda raised an eye brow at Lord Voldemort's request and said, "Mother does not want us to wander with strangers."
Bellatrix elbowed her sister until Meda was gasping for breath and hissed, "He is no stranger." The Dark Lord was soon advancing towards them; Bellatrix remained motionless while Andromeda stepped further behind her sister, even though she knew that if he decided to hurt her Bellatrix would stand to the side and watch. A huge smirk appeared on Bella's face when the Dark Lord took her hand into his.
The older Black gave a nod and replied, "Yes my lord." She strode by his side proudly, wishing her parents could see her. "Top of the class," she replied with a smile. Andromeda, who was walking close behind them, rolled her eyes at Bella's response. Bellatrix's eyes widened and she tightened her grip on his hand. Bella shrugged and said solembly , "I am not worried my lord. We are with you."

Lord Voldemort had actually brought them away from the Death Eater demonstration for more than just being interrupted by the auror. His followers were growing restless, they wanted action. But the Death Eaters were plainly outnumbered by the Aurors and Voldemort hadn't completed his horcruxes. "Your mother is no stranger to me, dear. And I'm confident she will say the same of me."
Voldemort had never seen a female so intrigued by his display. Most among pureblood women were simply tolerant at best of Voldemort because of his policy of forced marriages. "Of course not, Miss Black." She did not fear aurors. Though Voldemort could tell she did not fear him as much as she should either. "There is a task I have for you two. I need you to covet items from the Hogwarts castle," Voldemort whispered as he led them through the door of the Three Broomsticks. "If you can do this for me, my favor will belong to you."
Voldemort led the two girls to a set of chairs in a dark corner. He looked at Andromeda then to Bellatrix. He did not trust Bellatrix's desire for power. As it could easily become a desire for his powers. Though Andromeda's fear of him was much more trustworthy than Bellatrix's worship, Andromeda did not seem suitable for the Dark Mark. Voldemort reluctantly chose Bellatrix, "Bella, dear, hold out your arm." Voldemort smirked at his own brilliance, Dumbledore might suspect a male student being a spy but he would think Voldemort too sexist to recruit a girl.

The younger Black started shuffling her feet uncomfortable and looking around them nervously. The last thing they needed was for an auror to hold the Blacks responsible for the murder. Meda silently cursed the second she had agreed to go down to Hogsmeade with Bellatrix, she should have known that no good would come out of it. Lord Voldemort was soon walking towards them and responding to her words.
Meda's visage turned an alarming shade of white. She gave have a nod and shied away from him while mumbling softly, "Of course." Although she was not comfortable in his presence, and certainly did not like him, Andromeda was not stupid enough to continue protesting. She followed behind her sister and her new friend in silence. Lord Voldemort's words shook her deeply. A task? Since when where they his servants.
All Andromeda wanted to do was grab her sister and take her away from the Dark Wizard. However, as opposed to herself, Bella seemed so happy. Her eyes where sparkling and she was quick to say, "Anything for my lord." Meda gulped as they entered the Three Broomstick. To her relief, they were not the only customers in the bar.
The Black siblings sat across from Lord Voldemort. Andromeda had her shoulders slouched eyes fixed on her lap while Bella was sitting up straight, her body inclined towards the Dark Lord and her eyes locked with his. Confusion crossed her face when he asked her to hold out her hand. Bella's eyes shifted briefly in Meda's direction before doing as told.
Andromeda was quick to place her own hand over Bella's extended arm; and tried to pull it back towards them. The two sisters looked at each other; Bellatrix with a frown and Andromeda with fear in her eyes. Meda started shaking her head and said, "No Bella. This is not right." Andromeda's eyes wondered in Lord Voldemort's direction, and then tightened her grip on Bella's arm.

Lord Voldemort was about to take Bellatrix's arm in his own. He guessed that she might fuss and move her arm if he left her to steady her own arm. Though he was beaten to the girl's arm by her sister. Voldemort made a terrible choking noise with his throat. He glared at Andromeda viciously. Apparently she was not frightened of him enough either. Voldemort would have to be wary about dealing with the Black family in the future. Even his uncle Morfin had finally showed fear in the end.
Lord Voldemort burped, "Excuse me." He retreated, taking his eyes off of Andromeda. Voldemort gazed at Bellatrix, eyeing her closely. She had obviously been willing. "I need to know if the diadem on the statue in the Ravenclaw Common Room is genuine. What houses do you two belong to? Oh and also if you can get into Dumbledore's office, bring me his sword." Voldemort had seen the Ravenclaw Common Room when he attended Hogwarts. He was no Ravenclaw, but there were ways around that. He had not cared in the least to break into the Gryffindor or Hufflepuff Common Rooms though he had considered visiting the Gryffindors alot. "I warn you, if you raise alarm to Dumbledore about my desires, your family will die. I know I don't have to worry. Voldemort leaned forward and patted Andromeda's head. "Now let go of your sister's arm. If you don't accept my task, Andromeda, you will both die. But you will watch your family die first, of course." Voldemort sat back in his chair and waited for Andromeda to comply or flee in terror. Voldemort was grinning widely, unafraid of either outcome.

"What are you doing you stupid girl? Let go off my arm," Bellatrix hissed angrily. Andromeda took a deep breath and shook her head in defiance. She was no longer looking at Lord Voldemort, but had her eyes fixed on her older sibling.
The burp caught both Black's attention. Meda turned to look at Lord Voldemort with a disgusted expression, while Bellatrix eyed him with surprise. With narrowed eyes Bellatrix leaned forwards and listened to his every word.
"We are both Slytherins my lord. However, rest assured that I will find a way inside the Ravenclaw common room. I might not be one of them, but that does not mean my wit is inferior to theirs," came Bella's determined response.
Andromeda scoffed softly. Being a Slytherin had always bothered her. She was nothing like her sisters, however, the sorting hat must have detected Slytherin traits in her. Otherwise she would have been a Ravenclaw... and proud.
Meda might not be extremely close to her family, but she still loved them and Lord Voldemort's threat shocked her deeply. Bella gave a shrug and said, "Dumbeldore is nothing but an old muggle-loving fool. I would not trust him with my life."
The thirteen year old Black cringed at Lord Voldemort's touch. She forced herself to look at him and nodded at his request. Slowly she released Bella's arm and leaned back in her chair. She wanted nothing more than to flee, but she had to stay for Bella.

Lord Voldemort gazed at Andromeda before looking back to Bellatrix. He grinned across at her. He lifted his wand in one hand and took Bellatrix's arm in his other. He aimed the wand at Andromeda and his eyes grew wide as he warned, "Do not move." He did not expect her to cause anymore trouble so he lowered his wand to Bellatrix's arm. "Slytherins." He looked back into Bellatrix's eyes. "A noble house. The noblest, they say."
Voldemort grinned. "Bella-" He paused when she spoke of Dumblemore. His grin vanished and he narrowed his eyes. "That is a fair judgement of Dumbledore. He has always been dangerously optimistic. But if he is trying to keep you alive, I think only I could outwit him."
"Do you swear loyalty to Lord Voldemort?" He knew she didn't have a choice at this point. She had witnessed him murder and had already agreed to help him. If they tried to deny him now, he would kill the two girls as well. But he was not foolish, he would not brand Andromeda with the Dark Mark. She would reveal the Death Eaters before it was time.

Her ivory skin started prickling when she felt Lord Voldemort's eyes on her. Andromeda pressed herself against the chair and gulped, her gaze moving from the man's face to the wand aimed in her direction. Fear overcame her and all she could do was nod her understanding. Meda's eyes flitted in Bella's direction, pleading with her not to do anything stupid.
Bellatrix ignored her sibling and turned her full attention on the Dark Lord. She seemed to be fascinated by his lips and how beautifully the words rolled off his tongue. Even when he was subtly threatening her. Bellatrix might have not minded that, but Andromeda did. She stiffened and leaned forwards in her chair, frowning at Lord Voldemort.
"You want us to aid you and then you threaten my sister? That is hardly correct is it?"
Andromeda jumped in her seat as a loud 'Oww' escaped her parted lips. She looked over in Bella's direction.
"What did you do that for? I'm only trying to protect you."
"I do not need your protection. Sit still and shut up Andromeda," came Bella's sharp response.
Andromeda sighed in defeat and looked away before either of them got the idea of cursing her. Bellatrix looked annoyed, however, when her eyes locked with those of the Dark Lord's her expression softened. She held her breath as he spoke and nodded slowly.
"Yes my Lord. I am forever your servant."

Lord Voldemort watched and seemed patient as the two girls before him discussed their acceptance of the task. A grin appeared on his face when Andromeda exclaimed. His grin soon disappeared when she had the courage to continue to speak. Voldemort glared at her as she spoke. At the sound of her sigh, he made a sudden movement as though it had burned him momentarily. Voldemort leaned forward, patience no longer a part of his expression.
Voldemort reached forth with his spare arm and grasped Bellatrix arm around the wrist tenderly. With his head bowed to the girl's wrist he pressed his wand hard against her skin. A spark shot from his wand orange and red in color, a black spot spread upon Bellatrix's skin. He looked up at her, expecting to see the pain etched in her young face as he started forming the Mark upon her.
---
Nott entered the busy pub, he looked to the table where his master sat. He recognized what was happening as soon as he looked. He flared his nostrils and began making his way toward the table where his Lord sat. He was not wholly offended by his Lord suspecting him earlier. It was common of Lord Voldemort to suspect those who dared to speak to him for long. Nott saw another Hogwarts student peeping on the branding of his young peer. "Confundo," Nott breathed discreetly. The boy's worrisome expression changed to one of surprise immediately. Nott grabbed the boy behind the neck and pushed him off toward the door. The boy looked at him indignantly. Nott pointed to the door, "Go!" The boy turned and left without further argument. Nott sat with his legs going off to the side of his seat. "Your Lord requires your name, dear." He whispered in Bellatrix's ear softly. After which, Nott turned to sit properly and scanned the pub for any others who made his Lord's business their own. Madam Rosmerta came by and Nott ordered a drink in a whisper.
---
Voldemort watched as the black spot on Bellatrix's arm began to shape. He made slight movements with his wand across Bellatrix's skin, though he laxed his pressure upon it. He then looked to Bellatrix and locked eyes with her.

Although staring away from the two, Andromeda could feel Voldemort's presence draw nearer. She turned her head slightly and a loud gasp escaped her vocals. Her instinct was telling her to keep silent and behave; however, she could not bring herself to be pliant. Bellatrix had no idea whatsoever what she was getting herself into, and Andromeda felt it was her duty to put a stop to this madness. She pushed her chair and stood up; her palms resting on the wooden surface of the table. Andromeda leaned forwards, her nose almost touching Voldemort and her wand aimed at his chest.
"Release her," she threatened. Her voice sounded stern and malicious.
Behind her appeared Nott; who instantly engulfed her petite body into his strong arms and pulled her back. Her expression turned to surprise and she barely noticed her wand being wrenched out of her grasp. Andromeda was pushing back on the chair and held firmly down. She thrashed and struggled to free herself but to no avail. Her efforts provoked slaps and sharp jabs, however, that did not dampen her spirits. Meda twisted and turned, her eyes desperately gazing at Bellatrix.
Her sister was seated stiffly with a pinched look on her face. Bella's eyes were wide and glassy, but no tears spilled down her cheeks. Although she was obviously in pain, no sound escaped her mouth. Nott's whisper was lost on Bella as her mind transported her to an entirely different realm. It was only the Dark Lord's eyes boring into hers that finally helped her calm down and relax. She cast her eyes down and watched with awe as the Dark Mark took shape.
